Wherever
The Need
If you’ve ever wondered what an individual
(or a couple) can do to
bring positive change to the world, please check
out the amazing work
described on this website. Wherever the Need
USA was started by David
and Jean Purviance, and provides impoverished
individuals and groups
with culturally sensitive and locally desired
sustainable assistance.
WTN relies on grassroots donations and seeks
to connect its donors with
the people who receive help in order to foster
personal compassion and

The Institute
of Noetic Sciences
is a nonprofit membership organization located
in Northern California
that conducts and sponsors leading-edge research
into the potentials
and powers of consciousness—including
perceptions, beliefs, attention,
intention, and intuition. The Institute explores
phenomena that do not
necessarily fit conventional scientific models,
while maintaining a
commitment to scientific rigor. IONS produced
and distributes “one
minute shift” videos such as the one below.

“An
Epiphany in Space"
In this one minute video, Apollo astronaut
Edgar Mitchell shares the
extraordinary story of his mystical experience
in space while returning
from the moon, an experience that led him to
shift his whole vision of
reality. Yogis call such an experience samadhi,
and it led Edgar to
create the Institute of Noetic Sciences to explore
the meeting of
science and spirituality, as well as the creation
of a new worldview.

Julia
Butterfly Hill video
Watch a very inspiring film of Julia Butterfly
Hill. Julia climbed
up an ancient Redwood to save it from being
felled. She stayed in the
tree for over two years before the timber company
agreed not to cut it
down (nor any of the trees immediately surrounding
it). Julia has since
been involved in environmental advocacy and
has worked tirelessly in
support of indigenous peoples around the world.

Percussion
Therapy: Courses In The Sacred Geometry Of Manual
Therapy
The Sacred Geometry of manual therapy is a
methodology and course that teaches percussion
as a form of therapeutic treatment for the etheric
and bioenergetic body. Percussion therapy incorporates
the use of the Foredom Percussion hammer. It
has evolved from the work of Dr. Robert Fulford,
the renowned Osteopathic physician, healer and
philosopher. This gentle therapy works on the
deep fascia of the body and deeply influences
the physical and emotional body.
Dr. Joel Alter teaches the course on manual
therapy. Joel Alter, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. is a practicing
physician in Santa Rosa, CA. For the last 18
years he has specialized in Osteopathic Manipulation.
Prior to this, Dr. Alter practiced in Texas
as a surgeon and taught surgery as a professor
at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine,
University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr.
Alter became a student of Dr. Robert Fulford
in 1983 and has incorporated many of Dr. Fulford's
methodologies into his practice.

Ashes and
Snow
An astounding exhibition of the photographs
of Gilbert Colbert. Colbert's work presents
the relationship of human beings with animals
in a breathtaking series of pictures of people
meditating, dancing and swimming with elephants,
leopards, falcons, sperm whales, manatees and
other large mammals. In addition, there is a
one-hour video of these human-animal interactions.
The exhibit is housed, currently in New York
City, in a specially designed "nomadic
museum", first constructed in Venice and
dismantled and moved with the exhibit as it
travels the world.

Riverkeeper
For over 35 years, Riverkeeper and its predecessor
organization have been watchdogs for the health
and protection of the Hudson River.
Our mission is to safeguard the ecological
integrity of the Hudson River, its tributaries
and the watershed of New York City (protecting
the city's drinking water supply) by tracking
down and stopping polluters. Since 1983, Riverkeeper
has investigated and brought to justice more
than 300 environmental lawbreakers. Riverkeeper
believes in the rights of every citizen to enjoy
and defend our nation's water resources.

Clearwater
The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. is
a story of people who have given of themselves
as members, as supporters and as volunteers
- people who have dreams for a better world
and an unwavering belief that, as individuals,
we can make a difference in bringing about a
cleaner, safer world for ourselves and future
generations. Clearwater conducts environmental
education, advocacy programs and celebrations.
The nucleus of the activities is to protect
the Hudson River, its tributaries and related
water bodies, and to create public awareness
of the estuary’s complex relationship
with the coastal zone. A magnificent natural
design blending the freshwater streams of the
Adirondacks with the salt tides of the Atlantic,
the Hudson is a prime example of an estuary’s
ecosystem that, as a type, ranks second only
to rain forests in biological productivity.
